Welcome!! I set this Blog up to showcase some work that I do. I have many hobbies but this blog will concentrate mostly on my Photography. I also do wood working and glass etching and my photography definitely plays a role in those projects too. sometimes right from the start, I make my own patterns for etchings and scroll sawing using my own photos!

UFO
Originally saw much better shot but by the time I got a camera it was way too late, so I hunted this pic down.
Also tried to get a shot of some nesting pigeons that hang out at work.... but my the time I zoomed in...I got WAY more details than you want in a photo....crappy.....
First Flickr Photo

100_1977, a photo by Gary S._ on Flickr.
This is the first photo on my FLICKR profile, I`m not sure if it was the first one I EVER posted to Flickr however, and I was also on PhotoBucket before I discovered Flickr. The taken on date is Sept 11 2007.
This is from my first "real" digital P&S camera. (I had a cheap $75 digital camera that had NO display on it and you could only point it and shoot and hope you got something, )
I`m not saying it`s the best but was just discovering that I could control a LOT of what the camera was doing, and getting better photo`s than the camera...I was hooked by the time this photograph was taken! lol.
The camera used was a Kodak Easyshare C643. I miss this camera for a carry around (I always carry at least one camera with me.) I put that camera thru hell. Did things to it that there is no WAY I would even THINK of doing to my DLSR! In the end, after babying the lens motor (I jammed the lens mechanism with sand! then took it apart and kinda "fixed" it....) for over a year! I crushed the display screen by accident, and without that on ANY digital camera, your camera becomes just a cheap P&S and pray! Yer screwed...

Christmas Pumpkin carving
This is my FIRST picture of 2012, and I`ve decided I`m going to do a project 365. This means I will have to take a different photo of something different each day.
I can take more than one photo each day but only one is allowed from a day, meaning I have to go out each day and think.

words on Roof
Every time it snows out, this house in the neighborhood has letters appear on it. It usually spells out S H U R K.
Don`t know what a shurk is?
bum hole
Back alley graffiti .
One of my favorite pastimes is walking down back alleys to see what I can see. And the dog loves this pastime too! :-)

Mother of the Bride
I figured since I would already be at the wedding, and would already be carrying my "Good" camera (the DSLR CANON) that I would practice something that I wanted to try, it`s called a second shooter.
For a wedding, a photographer is hired as usual to get "THE" shots,( you know, the ones that everyone insists on), well the second hired photographer can look for other great shots, freeing up the main photographer to get even BETTER shots of the main players.
The second shooter gets, well, the secondary shots. At this wedding I tried to play that role but I wish I had asserted myself more when getting the shots. I have so many could be great shots with someones back of head in the shot. I needed to be able to walk around freely.
Communication on this shoot was horrible, but then I didn`t press anything either because I was not actualy hired or formally asked to shoot anything until JUST before the wedding. And then that threw me too, being asked to shoot something that soon I realized I had no time to research anything and weather also threw a sudden storm at us that I think messed up getting people organized and I`m sure this is all just part of the job.
I would LOVE to try this again as a hired pro. I would have better access and freedoms than that of a guest just pretending to shoot a wedding.....lol.
